I have been taking pictures of my cousin, Alexis since I bought my first camera. Let's face it, she is pretty cute, and the camera loves her. It's easy to get good shots and she is always willing and eager to pose for me. This was no exception. One of these days I need to put together a post of her growing up through my images, but for now, enjoy these little gems. Mollie is my baby cousin, not that she is a baby anymore. It's quite the opposite actually. She is a JR in high school now and to be very honest the smartest person in our entire family. I like to joke that I am the most successful person my family, but I'm afraid that I am going to have to pass that title over once she gets finished with High School and College. To say the least, I am very proud of this young lady, and I can not wait to see where she goes in life. Mollie asked me to take some pictures of her in her drill team uniform way back in April, which I was happy to do. It took me a long time to get them all edited for her and even longer to actually post them, but here you go. I finally got it done. I think the pictures turned out beautiful. Two blog posts in one week. I love this time of the year, as it is the only time I really have to craft.
I just now got around to creating this page, even though I took these pictures 2 years ago. They are of my cousin Alexis. I wanted to use the colors in her shirt, which is a beautiful aqua color; it looked so fantastic next to the bright blue Texas sky. I found a paper pack by DCWV with three shades of aqua, that were a perfect fit for this page. I cut the waves out of the paper using my cricut and attached them to a solid white background. Then I added the pictures, the title (which is a rub on) and the sheer ribbon just for some texture. I love the colors and calm of this layout. I took these pictures in June 2012 at the Fort Worth Water Gardens. Alexis, little Alexis, just turned 16. I can't believe it!!! She is my cousin, her mom (my Aunt Mary) and I graduated high school together, so this means that I'm actually old enough to have a 16 year old child.....my where did the time go? The picture above is one of my favorites of the two of us. I don't remember for sure, but Lexi was around 2 or 2 1/2 in this picture and I would have been 20 or 21. We all lived together, and this was about the time that she killed all my fish, because they "wanted Dr. Pepper". Hahaha, lots of good memories.
We went to the Dallas Arboretum to take her Sweet 16 pictures. It was so hot, it felt like it was 120 degrees outside, and I was a sweaty mess. Alexis however continued to look great no matter how hot it got. (It was really only 101, but at that temp, who is really counting anymore? It was hot!) The first picture is my favorite of the day. I love how it looks very natural, with the flowers and the lake in the background, oh and Alexis looks great too. I have a very large family, and we are all pretty close. So, when my cousin Jennifer asked me to take her daughter, Heather's Senior pictures, I jumped at the chance. I feel very honored that they trust enough in my abilities to take on such an important event in every high school seniors life. We went to the Dallas Arboretum, which I had never been to before, and had a lot of fun. There are so many beautiful places to take pictures there and I am very happy in how these turned out.
